Agnus Dei - Heavyweight crewneck

Agnus Dei is greek for "Lamb of God". This saying (The Lamb of God) refers to Jesus Christ. So why is He called a lamb?

Mankind is sinful in nature, meaning we are separated from God, and must pay the penalty of our sinfulness, the price for sin is death (Romans 6:23).

God, however, does not want us to die (2 Peter 3:9). So, He set up a way for us to be made right with God. That way. . . was through sacrifice. In the old times, the nation of Isreal would sacrifice animals to God, the blood of these animals would atone (Make amends, pay a penalty, or restore something) for the sin of Isreal.

Unfortunately, Isreal went on sinning (going against God) and needed to continually sacrifice animals.

God changed that when He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to come down and do what no man could do.

Jesus lived a perfect life, and then. . . when the time was right, He was crucified (a brutal roman execution). Jesus died but was the only one not deserving of death.

He died so that His blood would atone for my sins and for your sins. If we accept his sacrifice, we are washed clean of our sins and can restore the broken relationship between us and God.

Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, but it does not end there. Three days later He rose from the dead. He declares His people clean, and He declares death conquered. And He did it all out of love for you and me.
