About us

God breathed out mankind in his image. . . "In His likeness" (Genesis 1:26). We as a brand have a goal to exemplify Christ in all we do. Whether through God gifted creativity, loving others as Christ loved, or living faithful and bold lives; we are the workmanship of Christ. InLikeness is not only a company striving to use its gifts for Christ's glory, but to embolden other believers to live out their callings as a light shining the goodness of God to the world.

The most beautiful gift

Restoring us to our purpose

In the beginning, God created man to walk alongside Him, and in the beginning that was reality. Adam (the first man) and Eve (the first woman) walked beside God, and it was good. God gave one command to them, "do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, or you will die". Adam and Eve however, disobeyed this command.

The serpent (the devil) spoke to Adam and Eve. He said; "did God really tell you not to eat from this tree? you will not surely die, but you will be like God" Adam and Eve chose to believe these lies, and disobeyed the word of their creator, and went against the voice of God.

The act of disobeying God is called "sin". God, in his Holiness (wholeness, perfection, uprightness, righteousness, goodness), cannot be in the presence of sin. Nor can sin be in the presence of God. So God had to cast Adam and Eve from his presence, creating a divide for all mankind, keeping us from God and God from us.

There was only one way to remove the stain of sin. Romans 6:23 states that "the wages of sin is death..." and that since all of mankind has sinned, all must die to remove its stain on us.

This would mean we could never again be with God, not in life (due to our sin) nor in death (because we would be dead).

God, however, had a plan to change that.

God sent His son down to earth (Jesus Christ) who never sinned. Jesus lived a perfect (holy) life and then, when the time was right, he was tortured and murdered. Though He never deserved death (the only one who never deserved death) He was killed.

Why did He die?

to bear the punishment that we owed. When He died, he made it possible for us to accept His death as our own, and remove the punishment we deserve, making it possible to return to God! making it possible to restore our relationship with our creator.

Romans 6:23 states "for the wages of sin is death, but the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus"

If we will accept the gift of salvation, and choose to follow Jesus, we will be covered by his death and find new life.

This is what God created us for; this is our purpose, to walk in step with God

the new creation

A Renewed Purpose

The gift God gives does not end there. Three days after Jesus died and was put in the grave, he rose from the dead. Jesus, at this moment, declares with his new life that death has no hold on anyone that calls upon His name and is saved.

When we lived in sin, apart from God, we did whatever satisfied our longings, our hurting, and our passions. We lived to satisfy the flesh. The flesh is a term describing our relationship with sin. We used to crave sin. We all have a God sized hole in our hearts, we try all our lives to fill it with all number of things (money, power, relationships, praise of man, status, moral excellence, substances, and all number of things under the sun) but the only thing that can satisfy that hole in our hearts is God Himself.

When we Chose to accept Jesus into our hearts, we chose to die to our flesh and be raised to new life, just as Jesus was raised to new life.

This new life comes with new longings, new desires, and new direction. As we grow and begin to walk with God, he changes our hearts. We live a life in true joy, and we live for a new purpose. That purpose? it is bringing glory to God, enjoying God, and sharing the good news to others in whatever we do. ("Whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31)

Though we now have new life in Christ, we still struggle and fight. Our old nature, the one that once ruled us, still lingers. Our old nature tells us that we can find satisfaction in the world. It lies to us, just as the devil lied to adam and eve; saying "did God really say he will fulfill you? surely you can do as you wish, surely you will find love and joy and peace in the world". These lies are what believers fight against. We fight to live and breath in step with God, the way He created for us to be. We wait for the day Jesus returns and destroys all the sin and flesh that lingers on earth.

the upward calling

Our great aim

The calling of Christ for all believers is to share the beautiful gift we have been given to the world. We do this in word and deed. Our lives are examples of the light found in us. Jesus proclaims in the gospel of Mathew that we are like beautiful lamps in houses, meant to be put on tables to shine bright, not under baskets. Likewise, before Jesus ascended back into Heaven, He called us the great commission, a mission to go and make disciples of the people of all nations. Sharing the great joy, salvation, and new life that is offered too all. This calling is not only our greatest purpose, but our most fulfilling way to live. It is a life that shines light, share love, and saves souls.
